Voiceless will work to promote respect and compassion for animals
I urge all artists who have a personal website to also include a link or more to an animal or environmental site. Too much pain and suffering is out there to just do nothing.

Factory Farming  Animals treated as machines, their usefulness based solely on their profitability. To make them profitable, they are subjected to horribly crowded conditions and, for many species, mutilations of their bodies. Pigs and cattle are castrated, chickens have their beaks cut with a hot blade, and turkeys have their toes cut off. All these surgical procedures, which are highly painful, are performed without anesthesia. Doing the same things to cats and dogs is illegal, but not for animals raised for food production!

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Gandhi
There are an estimated 600 000 to 1000 000 stray dogs in the streets of Bali, Indonesia. Over 90% of these dogs suffer from either skin parasites and fungus, internal parasites, parvo virus, distemper, malnutrition, maggot infestation, infected wounds or a combination of these painful and debilitating ailments. These dogs are left to fend for themselves without veterinary care or a constant food source.

Angie's Story
A hen walks through the manure at Wegmans Egg Farm In the sheds we entered at Wegman's Egg Farm, there were long manure pits below the rows of battery cages. Hens who manage to escape from the crowded battery cages often fall through into the pits below. Once there, they have no way to access food or water. Of the hens we found there, some had surrendered to a dark end, sinking into the murk and giving up. In such a terrible place, this reaction is hardly a surprise. Some of the hens, though, showed us that they had resolved to survive.
Angie was one of those hens...

What if some huge, physically overpowering people held you captive and did painful things to you each day? What if they made fun of you when you screamed out of fear, cursed you for no reason, and threw you—literally threw you—back into a cage when they were finished roughing you up? Wouldn't you freeze in terror every time the door opened? Heart racing, you might wish to be invisible to your captors, but you never would be. The anxiety alone would be almost unbearable. It sounds like a nightmare, doesn't it? It is, and it's what monkeys endure in this and other laboratories every day.

A primate experiment was documented undercover in the Jerusalem Hebrew University. In the rare footage, researchers inserted electrodes in to the monkey's brain. Fact: Animals do not naturally ride bicycles, stand on their heads, balance on balls, or jump through rings of fire. To force them to perform these confusing and physically uncomfortable tricks, trainers use whips, tight collars, muzzles, electric prods, bullhooks, and other painful tools of the trade.
"The idea that it is funny to see wild animals coerced into acting like clumsy humans, or thrilling to see powerful beasts reduced to cringing cowards by a whipcracking trainer is primitive and medieval. It stems from the old idea that we are superior to other species and have the right to hold dominion over them." — Dr. Desmond Morris, anthropologist, animal behaviorist, author.

Did you know that: Animal experimentation is a lucrative multi-million dollar industry. Because of species differences it is impossible to apply the results of animal experiments to human beings with any accuracy. 20 animals a second are dying in laboratories worldwide. Despite the vast expenditure on medical research using animals, and on health care, people in today's societies are not healthy. There is no evidence that increases in the number of animal experiments have lead to a corresponding improvement in human health. Nowhere in the world do laws give adequate protection to laboratory animals. 70% of animal experiments are for non-medical purposes: testing of cosmetics, fire extinguishers, pesticides, detergents, household products and weapons. 80% of the experiments are performed without any anaesthetics. The 2007 Seal Hunt: From Brutality to Boycott Following this year’s Canadian seal hunt, the official kill count stood at 317,672 seals, a number that solidifies the hunt's reputation as the largest commercial slaughter of marine mammals on the planet.
